
Kerr Wilson’s lawyers have interpreted and litigated the meaning of insurance policies for almost thirty years We represent both insurance companies and policy holders. We have also represented insurance agents who have been accused of malpractice. Our lawyers defended one of the world’s largest insurance brokers in a malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty case. This was one of the first cases to go to trial concerning broker duties related to the failure of Reliance Insurance Company. Our lawyers were successful at trial, and even recovered unpaid commissions owed to the broker. Synagro of Texas-CDR, Inc. v. AON Risk Servs. of Texas, Inc., No. 13-04-663-CV, 2007 WL 29387, at *2 (Tex. App.—Corpus Christi Jan. 4, 2007, pet. denied). In one case we represented a policyholder accused of arson and were able to prevent the insurance company from using certain expert opinions. Allstate Tex. Lloyd’s v. McKinney, 964 F. Supp. 2d 678 (S.D. Tex. 2013). Our lawyers also represented an employer in an insurance coverage dispute and persuaded the Texas Supreme Court to recognize coverage for the employer when an employee has committed an intentional act. King v. Dallas Fire Ins. Co., 85 S.W.3d 185 (Tex. 2002).
